Thorin
Master of coin
Thorin is a Huscarl.
Thorin was born into a wealthy Danish family that had settled in the North of England. The (relatively) comfortable life he knew was abruptly destroyed when Saxon raiders destroyed his father's hall and slaughtered his family. Thorin fought to defend his home and his family alongside his father, but being merely a novice fighter, he was quickly disarmed by a more seasoned warrior and left for dead after suffering a minor blow to the head.
Raised as a follower of the old ways, Thorin believes that he failed to earn a place in Odin's Hall that day, and feels dishonoured that he lived while the rest of his family died as warriors.
He vowed two things on that fateful day - firstly that he would never again be without a weapon, to which end he rarely fights carrying fewer than five or six weapons.
Secondly, that he would regain his honour and die a warrior's death that he might join his father in Valhalla.
In the years that followed, Thorin spent much time travelling with various war bands, until one party brought him to the Island, and seeing a sense of honour amongst the Wolfguard that he felt was much lacking throughout the Norse lands with the spread of the Christian faith, not to mention the opportunity to die valiantly fighting alongside them, he joined them and has since proved his worth in combat on many occasions; but he has yet to redeem himself in his own eyes...
